Toyota RAV4 Adventure vs. Limited: What’s the Difference?

Are you looking at a new Toyota RAV4? If so, it’s important to compare all of the trim levels. For example, what’s the difference between the RAV4 Adventure vs. Limited models? Beyond that, is the price difference worth what you get?

These are questions I aim to answer for you. After looking at the exterior, interior, and technology differences, you can pick the trim that works best for your budget and lifestyle.

Exterior

As you look at the exterior of the RAV4, you see a lot of similarities. Let’s evaluate the measurements first.

Here are the two that are the same with both models.

• Wheelbase: 105.9”
• Track (front/rear): 62.6”/63.3” 

That leaves these measurements to be slightly different from one another.

• Overall length/width: 180.9”/73.0” (Limited) vs. 181.5”/73.4” (Adventure)
• Height: 67.2” (Limited) vs. 68.6” (Adventure)

You also want to know what 2023 Toyota RAV4 colors you can choose. These are the two options available with both trims. 

• Midnight Black Metallic
• Ruby Flare Pearl

There are also three more exterior colors available only with the Limited trim. These include the following:

• Blueprint 
• Magnetic Rock Metallic 
• Silver Sky Metallic

However, you can choose the Lunar Rock color for your Adventure trim. 

Looking deeper into the standard exterior features, there are many that are the same on both trims, such as these:

• Variable intermittent windshield wipers

There’s a distinct difference between the roof rails on both trims. The Adventure has raised black roof rails, while the Limited has a low-profile design instead.

Plus, the wheels are slightly different, with these available on each trim:

• 19” Super Chrome alloy wheels (Limited)
• 19” 5-spoke Matte Gray alloy wheels (Adventure)

The Limited also includes some fun exterior additions, including these:

• Integrated LED fog lights
• Height-adjustable power liftgate
• Power tilt/slide moonroof

Interior

The Limited and Adventure cabins are sized nearly identically. Here are some measurements to look at

• EPA passenger volume: 98.9 cubic feet
• EPA interior volume: 136.4 cubic feet
• Headroom with moonroof: 37.7”/39.5”
• Legroom: 41.0”/37.8”

There is one difference among cargo space measurements. Both models have a maximum of 69.8 cubic feet available for cargo, but the Limited trim has a hold measuring 37.5 cubic feet in the back, while the Adventure offers 37.6 cubic feet. It’s doubtful anyone could notice the difference. 

Moving onto the RAV4 Limited interior colors compared with the RAV4 Adventure interior colors, there are only minor differences. Both RAV4s include Black SofTex. However, these are the additional options.

• Mocha SofTex (Adventure)
• Ash SofTex (Limited)
• Nutmeg SofTex (Limited)

As you look at the features in the cabin, both models include the following:

• Rear liftgate window defogger
• 4-way front passenger seat 
• 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat (lumbar support)

• 60/40-split fold-flat rear seat
• Day/night rearview mirror
• Tonneau cover for cargo area
• Height-adjustable rear cargo area deck board
• 4 cup holders & 4 bottle holders

In the Adventure model, you also receive head-turning orange accents for a fresh look. It also includes a day/night rearview mirror, while the Limited trim has an auto-dimming rearview mirror with HomeLink® universal transceiver.

Finally, the Limited RAV4 includes these additional features:

• Heated and ventilated front seating
• Dark brown-accented interior
• Blue ambient illumination (front footwells, in-dash shelves, and center console cup holders)

When it comes to technology, there are a lot of similar features between the two, including the following:

• Two 12V/120W auxiliary power outlets (1 in front, 1 in rear)

Here are some differences between the two:

Following the 2023 RAV4 price increases, these are the new MSRPs for both trim levels. 

• Adventure: $33,770
• Limited: $35,880

Keep in mind that the Adventure model does come standard with all-wheel drive. To add that with your Limited trim, you would spend another $1,400. Without AWD, the two trims have a price difference of $2,110.

Should You Buy the RAV4 Adventure or Limited?

The trouble is that it’s hard to compare these two models’ apples-to-apples. The Adventure model is designed for a unique look and more capability, while the Limited appeals to those who want upgraded technology.

Therefore, it’s not as much of a question of if the price is worth it but more about what you are looking for in a RAV4.
