Availability

Since the color’s release in 2019, Lunar Rock has been available across many different RAV4 trims:

  • 2019-2023 RAV4 XLE (Gas & Hybrid)
  • 2019-2023 RAV4 XLE Premium (Gas & Hybrid)
  • 2019-2023 RAV4 Adventure
  • 2020-2021 RAV4 TRD Off-Road

It can be difficult to find a Lunar Rock RAV4 – both new and used.

Not only is it one of Toyota’s most sought-after colors, but the manufacturer is also experiencing global vehicle demand that currently exceeds supply in some countries. This is resulting in longer-than-usual waiting times for RAV4s in standard colors, let alone the more unique shade of Lunar Rock.

In terms of finding a used Lunar Rock RAV4, your options may also be limited.  Most used RAV4s currently being sold are in standard metallic colors, so finding a Lunar Rock version among these could be challenging.

Beginning in 2024, Lunar Rock has been replaced with Army Green.

Although it may be tough, it’s worth the effort if you really like the color. Here’s what makes it so unique.

What Makes it Unique

Since its release, Lunar Rock has gone on to become an extremely sought-after color in Toyota’s range.

Consumers love its unique take on the common – yet often dull – grey, not to mention its uncanny resemblance to the fascinating colors of the moon’s surface.

People also appreciate Toyota’s willingness to break out of traditional vehicle colors and offer some creative expression and diversity to their product range.

It’s even more rare now that Toyota has discontinued Lunar Rock as of model year 2024.

Furthermore, Lunar Rock is neither matte nor overly metallic. It has a subtle vibrance which is more noticeable in bright, natural light.

Interior Pairings

If you’re considering purchasing a Lunar Rock RAV4, you might be wondering what interior colors you also have to choose from.

Because of Lunar Rock’s unique hue, it’s understandable that you won’t want an interior shade that clashes with this green-grey color.

As of the 2023 model year, you can get the following interior colors with a Lunar Rock RAV4:

XLE (Gas, Hybrid):

The Lunar Rock RAV4 XLE is available in three different interior colors, including standard black, ash grey, and light yellow-brown.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the most popular color combination with Lunar Rock is Ash Fabric, as owners have stated that they like the two-tone ash interior (light and dark grey), over the solid black.

For those looking for something lighter and brighter, however, the Nutmeg fabric really pops against the green-grey exterior.

XLE Premium (Gas, Hybrid):

The RAV4 XLE Premium in Lunar Rock is also available in the same interior colors as the XLE trim, however the Softex provides an upgrade to the standard Fabric.

Essentially, Softex is a synthetic leather material that’s soft to the touch, extremely resistant to spills, and allows for effortless cleaning.

Adventure:

The Lunar Rock RAV4 Adventure trim is also available in Black Softex but comes with the addition of another color: Mocha.

The Mocha interior is predominantly made up of very dark brown, along with light grey and a small pop of dark orange. It’s a great option for those who can’t quite decide on an all-dark or all-light interior to accompany their Lunar Rock exterior.

TRD Off-Road:

The TRD Off-Road RAV4 in Lunar Rock exterior only comes with one interior pairing: black.

You can’t go wrong with the simple pairing, however you will be limited in your choices compared to the other trims we discussed.
